Engineering Learning Systems
In the Engineering Learning Systems Lab, we have three main goals. First, we work to carefully document what it looks like when various learners — from children to college students to elementary teachers — experience productive engagement with the engineering discipline. Second, we try to understand the barriers that prevent some learners from deeply engaging in engineering learning. Finally, we develop tools and strategies that can help to overcome those barriers, including multimedia engineering notebooks, portable design workshops, community based design problems, and responsive teaching approaches.
